紐西蘭台灣華夏協會簡介

1980年代末，紐西蘭移民潮風起雲湧，無數的台灣鄉親離鄉背井來到白雲之鄉紐西蘭。這些新移民在蓽路藍縷的奮鬥過程中，深感團結就是力量的重要，也體認的確需要一個台灣鄉親自己的家。在1989年末展開這個意義深遠的工作，無數的鄉親投入時間、金錢，犧牲奉獻。1990年3月3日，在奧克蘭Town Hall召開成立大會，成立紐西蘭華夏協會。2004年2月14日經第十四次會員大會決議修改名為紐西蘭台灣華夏協會。

本會為一非營利的同鄉會組織。成立主旨為(1)發揚台灣文化，促進台紐文化交流(2)凝聚台灣鄉親力量，積極參與社區活動及公眾事務，提昇台灣人形象(3)推展文教康樂活動(4)幫助會員立足紐西蘭。多年來，本會一直是紐西蘭最具影響力的僑民組織之一。

本會會務目前由第十六屆理事會主持，理事長為吳昌霖先生。

Introduction of Taiwanese Hwa Hsia Society of New Zealand

In the late 1980's New Zealand changed its immigration policy. Thousands of Taiwanese left their home country and came to live in New Zealand, the country of "White Clouds". The Taiwanese immigrants soon realized the importance of holding a reunion. The project of setting up a HOME of Taiwanese started from the end of 1989. Countless Taiwanese have contributed their time and money to support this project. On 3^rd March 1990, the first General Meeting is held at Town Hall Auckland City, and Hwa Hsia Society of New Zealand is established. On 14^th February 2004, the 14^th General Meeting resolved to modify the name as Taiwanese Hwa Hsia Society of New Zealand.

The Society is a non-profitable civil organization. The aims are (1)To promote Taiwanese culture, and enhance cultural exchange between Taiwanese and local New Zealanders. (2)To strengthen unity among fellow members and encourage them to get involved in community affairs, so they may gain better social image and status. (3)To promote social, cultural and educational activities for the members. (4)To assist members in setting up a foothold in New Zealand. Over the years, the Society has been one of the most influential civil organizations in New Zealand.

The Society business is currently run by the 16^th Board of Directors, headed by the Chairman, Mr. Alan Wu.

會員資格之申請:

凡來自中華民國台灣,認同本會宗旨及章程,年滿二十歲,品性端正,由會員兩人推薦,並經理事會審查通過者,皆可申請為本會會員.
